6 Years Ago Today... (Defying the Odds)
Hi friend,
I had just completed a long 4 months of cancer treatment for a recurrence of stage 3 melanoma and was ready to put cancer behind me for a while.
I went to Hawaii for a week with my teammates for training and to begin diving again, and returned to Boston for the first day of the spring semester of my senior year in college. I was ready to get on with my life!
There was just a little problem. I had found this small bump under my chin (probably while applying sunscreen), and needed to have it checked out. I took a bus to see my doctor in NY and she performed the biopsy in her office, quickly returning with the results.
It was melanoma again. Just two weeks after finishing radiation treatments.
Feeling numb since I had endured so much pain only to be brought back to square one, that evening I had an "emergency" CT scan. The results are below...
From there it's a long story, one that you probably know to some degree.
But to sum it up in one sentence, I found myself in a devastatingly hopeless situation - expected to be dead in 3-6 months - and ended up alive and cancer-free today, 6 years later.
God's amazing grace made it possible for me to find the treatments I needed to heal, and I am so thankful. If the situation were in my own hands I probably would've ended up in the grave a long time ago. Alternative treatments were never even my idea! But I was given the people, resources and direction I needed for hope and healing.
Because it was God who controlled my situation and not me, I believe that since I healed, anyone else can heal too.
"While You extend Your hand to heal, and signs and wonders take place through the name of Your holy servant Jesus.” Acts 4:30
Believe big and trust Him today!!
