Your Beliefs Can Heal You! Or They Can Make You Sick... [Video]

Did you know, the power to heal is yours?! At least, partly...! :) Dr. Lissa Rankin, a conventionally trained medical doctor, has written all about this topic and the body's ability to heal itself through positive belief in her NY Times Bestseller, Mind Over Medicine. Though once very skeptical of anything not embraced by her fellow conventional medicine community, Dr. Rankin has discovered, embraced and now teaches a new set of beliefs about the incredible power of the mind over the body. I am thankful for her research and can't wait for you to know about it! :)
After 8 years of practicing as an obstetrician-gynecologist, Dr. Rankin became burned out by the pressure of seeing 40 patients each day and quit her job. She moved her family to the country to make a living as an artist and writer. Quite the career change, huh? Well, her passion for healing people never left her and she eventually returned to medicine, but not before researching a phenomenon she had heard about but never really believed - the placebo effect. She had heard miraculous stories of people being healed without medical intervention, and after digging deeper discovered that it wasn't such an uncommon thing. In fact, she found in one study in the Journal of the American Medical Association that one third of patients given a placebo, or inert medical treatment, were cured of their ailment in real, measurable, biological ways.*
With this new found powerful knowledge she began treating patients in a more holistic way and teaching both patients and practitioners how to harness the power of the mind to optimize health. I will be using this research in my own coaching and recommend it for everyone wanting to prevent or heal from disease.
